Crock Pot Sloppy Joe Hash (Printer-Friendly)

Cheesy hash browns meet seasoned ground beef and slow-cooked savory filling in a hearty dish.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Potatoes and Dairy

01 - 32 oz frozen shredded hash brown potatoes, slightly thawed
02 - 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cheddar cheese soup
03 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

→ Proteins and Eggs

04 - 1 large egg
05 - 1 lb ground beef

→ Vegetables and Aromatics

06 - 1/2 cup chopped onion

→ Condiments and Seasonings

07 - 1 cup Sloppy Joe sauce
08 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
09 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Spray a 5-6 quart oval slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
02 - In a large bowl, mix shredded potatoes, condensed cheddar cheese soup, egg, salt, and pepper until well combined. Spread this mixture evenly in the bottom of the slow cooker.
03 - In a large skillet over medium heat, brown and crumble ground beef with chopped onion until beef is no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
04 - Stir Sloppy Joe sauce into the cooked beef and onion mixture.
05 - Spoon the Sloppy Joe meat mixture evenly over the hash brown layer in the slow cooker.
06 - Cover and cook on low for 4 to 4 1/2 hours.
07 - About 10 minutes before cooking time is complete, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the casserole. Replace the lid and allow cheese to melt.
08 - Once cheese is melted, serve the casserole warm.

# Helpful Hints:

01 - Use an oval slow cooker for even cooking; a round one will increase cooking time and may cook unevenly.
02 - Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the microwave.
03 - Optional additions include diced bell peppers or corn for extra vegetables.
