Dr Pepper Steak Bites (Printer-Friendly)

Tender steak bites cooked slowly in a bold Dr Pepper and BBQ sauce for rich, juicy flavor.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Meat

01 - 1.5 pounds sirloin or stew beef, cut into bite-sized pieces

→ Sauce

02 - 12 fl oz Dr. Pepper soda
03 - 3 tablespoons honey
04 - 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
05 - 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
06 - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
07 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
08 - 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

→ Thickening agent

09 - 1 tablespoon cornstarch
10 - 1 tablespoon cold water

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Quickly sear the steak bites for about 30 seconds on each side until lightly browned, then transfer to the slow cooker.
02 - In a bowl, whisk together Dr. Pepper, honey, brown sugar, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and black pepper until combined.
03 - Pour the sauce over the steak bites in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours, or until the steak is fork-tender.
04 - If the sauce is too thin after cooking, mix cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry. Stir it into the slow cooker and cook on high for an additional 10 minutes until thickened.
05 - Spoon the steak bites and sauce over mashed potatoes, rice, or toasted buns. Enjoy warm.

# Helpful Hints:

01 - Quick searing enhances flavor and texture before slow cooking.
02 - Choose sirloin for a leaner option or chuck roast for melt-in-your-mouth tenderness.
03 - A pinch of red pepper flakes can be added for a subtle spicy kick.
04 - Store leftovers in an airtight container refrigerated up to 3 days; reheat gently.
