01 -
Combine ground beef, crushed crackers or bread crumbs, egg, diced green pepper, diced onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Mix thoroughly with hands to distribute ingredients evenly.
02 -
Shape the mixture into four oval-shaped patties, ensuring uniform size for even cooking.
03 -
Heat a cast iron skillet or sauté pan over medium-high heat. Place patties into the hot pan and brown on each side for 3 to 4 minutes without cooking through completely, achieving a caramelized crust.
04 -
Remove browned patties from the skillet and set aside. Add brown gravy mix, French onion soup, cream of chicken soup, and water to the skillet. Whisk continuously for 1 to 2 minutes to dissolve lumps and create a smooth gravy.
05 -
Return patties to the skillet and spoon gravy over them. Cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for approximately 10 minutes or until patties reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) and are fully cooked.
06 -
Remove from heat and serve patties hot with gravy spooned over the top.
