02 - 2 cups beef broth, low sodium
03 - 0.25 cup water

→ Meats

04 - 8 ounces lean ground beef
05 - 4 ounces chicken gizzards, finely chopped (optional)

→ Vegetables & Aromatics

07 - 0.5 medium sweet onion, diced
08 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
09 - 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped, for garnish

→ Oils & Fats

10 - 1 tablespoon canola oil

→ Spices & Seasonings

11 - 0.5 teaspoon celery seed
12 - 1 teaspoon Creole seasoning
13 - 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
14 - 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
15 - 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Rinse rice thoroughly until water runs clear to remove surface starch. Combine rice and beef broth in a medium pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender.
02 - In a large 12-inch skillet, heat canola oil over medium heat. Add ground beef, chopped gizzards if using, diced bell pepper, sweet onion, and minced garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 8 to 10 minutes until meat is browned and vegetables are softened.
03 - Add cooked rice to the skillet along with celery seed, Creole seasoning, onion powder, cayenne pepper, ground black pepper, and 0.25 cup water. Stir thoroughly to combine ingredients and heat through for 2 to 3 minutes.
04 - Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve immediately.

# Helpful Hints:

01 - For fluffier rice, rinse until water is clear to remove excess starch.
02 - Chicken gizzards provide authentic flavor but can be omitted for a milder taste.
03 - To double, use a larger pan and proportionally increase ingredients.
04 - Leftovers can be stored refrigerated in an airtight container up to 4 days or frozen up to 3 months.
