In a large bowl, gently combine ground beef, Italian sausage, and pizza seasoning until just mixed. Avoid overworking the meat.

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the buns. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty.

Heat grill or large skillet over medium-high heat. Warm marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.

Cook patties for 4 minutes on one side without pressing. Flip and cook another 2–4 minutes until internal temperature reaches 140°F for medium.

Place a slice of mozzarella on each patty one minute before removing from heat. Let cheese melt thoroughly.

Toast buns cut-side down on grill or skillet for 1–2 minutes until golden and crisp.

Place patty on bottom bun, top with warm marinara, pepperoni, and Parmesan if using. Add top bun and serve hot.
