Air Fryer Chicken Thighs (Printer-Friendly)

Tender, crispy chicken thighs cooked quickly in an air fryer with flavorful seasoning and a golden crust.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Wet Ingredients

01 - ½ cup buttermilk
02 - 1 large egg

→ Dry Ingredients

03 - ¾ cup all-purpose flour
04 - ¼ cup cornstarch
05 - 2 teaspoons garlic powder
06 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
07 - 1 teaspoon kosher salt
08 - ½ teaspoon black pepper

→ Main Ingredient

09 - 2 pounds bone-in chicken thighs

→ Finishing

10 - Olive oil cooking spray

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) to ensure even cooking.
02 - In a medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg until fully combined.
03 - In a separate medium bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and black pepper evenly.
04 - Dip each chicken thigh into the buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Then, thoroughly coat with the flour mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
05 - Generously spray the air fryer basket with olive oil cooking spray to prevent sticking.
06 - Place the coated chicken thighs in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch. Spray the chicken liberally with olive oil spray to promote crispiness.
07 - Cook for 25 to 30 minutes, flipping the chicken halfway through the cooking time. After flipping, spray again with olive oil spray. The chicken is done when golden brown and an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) is reached.
08 - Remove the chicken from the air fryer and serve immediately with your preferred side dishes.

# Helpful Hints:

01 - Preheating the air fryer and spraying both the basket and chicken with olive oil spray helps achieve a crisp, golden crust without excess oil.
02 - Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
03 - Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding, which compromises crispness.
