Set air fryer to 400°F and preheat for 5 minutes.

Pat steaks dry on both sides with paper towels. Rub evenly with olive oil and season all over with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Spray the air fryer basket lightly with olive oil nonstick spray. Pour 2 tablespoons of water into the bottom of the basket to prevent smoke and aid in moisture retention.

Place one steak in the basket, ensuring space for air circulation. Cook for 5 minutes at 400°F. Flip the steak and continue cooking for 6 to 8 minutes more, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F for medium doneness. Repeat with the second steak.

Remove steaks from the air fryer and tent loosely with foil. Allow to rest for 5 to 10 minutes to redistribute juices. Serve topped with garlic herb compound butter if desired.
