01 -
Wash and dry apples thoroughly. Peel if a softer texture is desired, or leave peel on for added texture. Slice apples into uniform ½-inch thick sticks for even cooking.
02 -
In a shallow bowl, whisk together flour, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and half of the powdered sugar to form the spiced dry mixture.
03 -
Optional: dip apple sticks in beaten egg to enhance coating adhesion. Then lightly toss apple sticks in the dry mixture until evenly coated.
04 -
Preheat air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for approximately 3 minutes. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil to prevent sticking.
05 -
Arrange coated apple sticks in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Lightly spray the tops with cooking oil. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes at 380°F (193°C), shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even crispness. Cook until golden and crunchy.
06 -
Remove apple fries and immediately toss with remaining powdered sugar or serve alongside caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping.
